Mathematical Modeling of a Hollow Fiber Module Used in Pressure-Retarded Osmosis Process

Pressure retarded osmosis (PRO) can be considered as one of the methods for utilizing osmotic power, which is a membrane-based technology. Mathematical modeling plays an essential part in development and optimization PRO energy-generating systems. In this research, mathematical model was developed hollow fiber module to predict power density permeate water flux theoretically. Sodium chloride solution employed feed draw solution. Different operating parameters, concentration (1 2 M), flow rate (2, 3, 4 L/min), applied hydraulic pressure difference (0 - 90 bar) used evaluate performance process module. The effect these operational parameters investigated on theoretical density. According results, increased with increasing While decreased concentration. By solution, produced increased. maximum corresponding M NaCl approximately 16.414 W/m2 11.818 LMH respectively, occurs at 50 bar.
